AREAS OF EXPERTISE

We have detailed, hands-on experience in the application of innovation into business process to optimise and improve performance.   In particular our knowledge within commercialisation of Environmental Technology and Digital Transformation options adds value across sectors.

ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES COMMERCIALISATION

Power to Gas (P2G), Power to Methane, P2X.....

Power-to-gas (or P2G) is a technology that uses electrical power to produce gaseous fuel.

Most P2G systems use electrolysis to produce Hydrogen gas. The hydrogen can be used directly or further steps (known as two-stage P2G systems) may convert the hydrogen into Syngas, Methane or LPG.

The gas may be used as chemical feedstock, or converted back into electricity using conventional generators such as gas turbines. Power-to-gas allows energy from electricity to be stored and transported in the form of compressed gas, often using existing infrastructure for long-term transport and storage of Natural Gas.

OFFSHORE WIND

The offshore wind power industry has grown to a level of 23.1 GW (Gigawatt) by 2019 globally and now represents oth a major player in World renwabe Energy provision as well as a major growth industry in the Industry 4.0 revolution.  As of 2020, the 1.2 GW Hornsea Project One in the United Kingdom is the largest offshore wind farm in the world.

The cost of offshore wind power has been decreasing rapidly in recent years to $78/MWh in 2019. Offshore wind power in Europe has been price-competitive with conventional power sources since 2017. Offshore wind generation grew at over 30 percent per year and continues to expand rapidly.  With major Energy players such as Equinor and BP moving into the Offhore Wind market our  30 year experience in Offshore Technology allows us to tailor solutions specifically to our Clients needs.

Biomethane (Waste to Gas and Waste to Power by Anaerobic Digestion)

Biomethane is a gas which is produced by the anaerobic digestion of organic matter such as organic waste, plant material, sewage etc. Chemically, it is identical to natural gas which is stored deep in the ground and is also produced from organic material. Benefits of utilising Biomethane include:

  • Processing and increased value of organic waste

  • Long-term creation of local jobs

  • Local production of renewable energy

  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions

  • Use of organic rather than chemical fertilisers

We have been involved in the development of AD mediated Waste to Gas and Waste to Power Projects since 2003 in bothe the UK and in Ireland.

Solar Energy

Solar power is the conversion of solar energy into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), indirectly using concentrated solar power, or a combination of these. Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and solar tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic cells convert light into an electric current using the photovoltaic effect. Photovoltaics were initially solely used as a source of electricityfor small and medium-sized applications however Solar PV is rapidly becoming a mainstream method to utilise inexpensive, low-carbon technology to harness renewable energy.

INDUSTRY 4.0

Digital Transformation

Digital Transformation (DT or DX) is the adoption of digital technology to transform services or businesses, through replacing non-digital or manual processes with digital processes or replacing older digital technology with newer digital technology.  Most businesses still require some degree of upgrade within their processes in order to keep pace with rapid development in technology driven commerce.  We specialise in auditing businesses to evaluate their DT needs and to propose the optimu mechanism(s) to bring their businesses into line with current methods and practices.

Business Process Optimisation

Business process optimisation initiatives vary according to the competitive environment an organisation faces within their industry. Regardless of the industry however, a company's process optimisation project must identify ways to make their business processes streamlined and more manageable, with formalised, actionable information about how, and how well, the process is executing.

A business process optimisation project must define the scope of the process to establish clear deliverables and set project boundaries. It will identify the process improvement goals such as cycle-time reduction, customer service improvement, and/or cost reduction, etc. It will identify the deliverables such as process maps, time studies, systemic enhancement opportunities, to name a few. Additionally, it will allocate the required resources including subject matter experts to define existing process strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. And, it will set a timetable for the development and execution of process optimization enhancements. We have the knowledge and capability to deliver Business Process Optimisation cost effectively and tailored specifcally to the Clients needs.
